Mike Brady
Baseball and American Society: A Journey
Mike Brady is professor of adult education with the Department of Human Resource Development at the University of Southern Maine, Gorham. He has taught numerous undergraduate and graduate courses  in adult education,  social/educational gerontology, action research, death/bereavement, as well as baseball and American culture. He regularly lectures at various conferences, institutes, and pre-retirement education programs. Brady designed a statewide training plan in aging and an education program for a community hospice with the state of Connecticut.  He is also widely published.

Wednesday, April 25, 7 p.m. in Callahan Hall, a screening and discussion of the new documentary film Northrunner: The Allagash Wilderness Waterway. Free admission. Co-sponsored by the Maine Dept. of Conservation. This was rescheduled from April 4.

The documentary commemorates the 40th anniversary of the creation of the Allagash Wilderness Waterway.  A representative from Ursus Productions, the company that made the film,  will be present at the showing to answer questions along with Patrick McGowen, Maine's Commissioner of Conservation, who served as its producer.

Joan Macri
Lewiston as a "College Town": Creating a College-Going Culture
Joan Macri has been a teacher for almost 40 years, over 20 at Lewiston High School where she was the debate and mock trial team coach. She has served as a mentor to students completing the college application process and has created and implemented a number of innovative programs encouraging college aspirations. Among them: college road trips, aspirations lab and early college studies program. She has received grants from the Mitchell Institute, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Melmac Education Foundation and more.
